Well, long time no see. I know, it's my fault. I've been busy, that's my only excuse. and now I have a job, a paying, leave the house kinda job. I don't really have anything special to discuss just though an update was in order.
First and foremost is that hubby opened his own Law Office. I'm very happy about that. He's such a great lawyer and he loves being his own boss. it's scary and nerve racking because I never now how much money is coming in but we get by with a little help from our family. Big shout out to Pam!
Kids are doing great in school. Griffin is enjoying his teacher, Laurel loves loves loves kinder and Easton has stepped it up so far this year. I'm so proud of them. Easton is looking to make the honor roll this time around. I hope he does.
I went to my 20 yr high school reunion this summer and totally had a blast! I loved seeing my friends so much that we are hitting the beach in a couple of days for a week!
Sad news: my Kari moved to Kansas with her hubby who is in the army. Good for her because now she is nearer to her family. It is forcing me to get to know some other people and stalk someone until they become my new bestie....although Kari can't be replaced!
I have been spending more time with the mom of one of Laurel's friends and I just love her! She is so funny, cute and fun to be around. She has two daughters the same age as my two youngest so it works well. She was diagnosed with breast cancer not long ago and is scheduled to have a mastectomy on Friday. I think she is more scared than she appears to be but who wouldn't. I'm sad that I won't be in town to help her and the girls out while she is in the hospital and recuperating but she understands.
I don't really have any philosophical thoughts this time but stay tuned you never know when inspiration will hit me. either that or I'll walk into it and fall down on top of it. either way it works....

Soooo.......
Not gonna say too much but hubby got laid off his job. Scary. He has a lot of side projects, in fact sat at the table working all day today however these are jobs that don't pay until the client gets paid.....He is working on getting another job so fingers crossed it doesn't take too long. No projects for Jen over spring break. It makes me sad. Oh and did I mention SCARY!!!

I am grateful.....
I think that I could probably use one of those posts where I say what I'm grateful for because this evening was shit. But right now the only thing I can feel grateful for is the fact that this day is over.
Got into a fight with hubby this eve about the same old crap and as usual he just doesn't get me. I truly think that I am making myself clear but apparently he is listening to me from inside quicksand. My issues may sound petty to him but they are important to me....and shouldn't that make them important to him? I guess not. So basically I will lay here on the sofa in my wrongness and be wrong....what's new. I hate arguing with him because he truly is way more intelligent than I am and he can compose his thoughts whereas I get emotional and fumble around like a blind woman. And that puts me on the defensive. anyway, some things that needed to be said were said and I guess I'll see what tomorrow brings.
I do have one thing that made me smile...my sweet daughter fell asleep in the chair holding her little dora magnet doll set case. she looked so prim and proper!

long time no see....
It's been a while since I've talked to you guys. I actually wrote something out, maybe last week, but somehow the entire thing got deleted. I think the palm of my hands actually touch the touch pad and does things that I have no knowledge of. I will try to keep my palms in check this time. I have been very upset lately and my hubby is the cause of it all. It's nice to have someone to blame it on. Because I know that I am not over reacting to anything and handling everything like an adult......
Anyway, moving on. Hubby has not been around a lot lately. He's been busy helping other people and doing other things. This leaves me to be mom and dad to the kids and help them to understand why he can help other people but not us...around the house, with homework, with baseball swing or learning to play tennis....those kinds of things. When he is home he is so tired from working and doing all this pro bono work that all he can do is sleep. Which is a major source of arguing for us because I think sleeping all day (late in the am and then taking multiple naps) is not setting a very good example for our kids. We've had this argument hundreds of times and everytime I'm the bitch because I don't understand his need for sleep. well, in my opinion is he got up and was active maybe he wouldn't be so tired all the time. I am not going to use this as an outlet to trash my hubby because despite the fact that I am mad about his recent lack of appearance in our life he is a good man. a good hubby, father and provider. I will just be mad silently.
In other news, I just got my computer back from the shop. Apparently I got a power surge and it fried my hard drive. That was another argument because I made a $350 decision without him but who cares. I told him that if I waited for him my computer would still be sitting here dead. Executive decision made by me and carried out in a timely manner. Now I have to get it back to the way it was but that is easier said than done. Tried changing the color scheme today..no go. still blue. I don't like blue computer, I want it personalized with pink and red and sparkles and maybe a hot nekkid guy wrapped in my sheets....but I digress. My computer and I have to get to know each other again but if I can't get the sparkles going soon my hopes for a hot nekkid guy are dashed.
Guess what everyone is talking about now? and by everyone I mean my hubby....what am I going to do with myself once my baby gets into kindergarten this August..I don't know. How am I supposed to know this kind of thing. I've been a SAHM for almost 12 years. Despite the fact that I have a college degree I have very little else. Unless someone wants me to keep track of their FB page I got nothing. My current thought is just to get to May and my trip to Atlanta and the Creek for my reunion. Will I have the money to pay for the plane ticket? the rental car? the hotel? food? Maybe by then I will have lowered my food intake to one meal a day and it won't cost that much. I am really looking forward to that trip. It's my final hoorah before school gets out and the last time I will be alone for the whole summer. I have got to get my groove thang moving before the summer sucks me dry.
I joke about my kids and all their neediness and the pain they cause me on a daily basis but bottom line is that they are the greatest kids in the world. I would totally do it all over again if given the choice, but I would do it in Texas because if I'm doing it all over again we would NOT move to California.
Well, I think this catches things up a little without overloading anyone.
wish me luck on the re-personalization of my computer and cross your fingers for the hot nekkid guy!

5 things that made me happy today
1. Krispy Kreme for breakfast. it's kind of a birthday tradition with the kids. they closed the one close to us so we have drive a little, we have to leave our "bubble". The kids love watching the donuts go through everything, love getting a free one before we order and drinking milk out of coffee cups.
2. got a pedicure with my daughter this afternoon. She enjoys it so much and I'm glad that we can do that together. her feet are so small and she loves getting pretty designs on her toes.
3. trying to take a nap on the sofa my sweetie fell asleep in my arms. She was laying there trying to get me up and when I opened my eyes she was asleep.
4. even though it's freezing outside we went to the italian gellato place (pachugo is how you say it I don't know how to spell it) and had some gellato. sooooo yummy! Thanks Kari for taking me there so I could share it with my family. Baskin Robbins who?
5. hearing my oldest say I'm tired. He actually admitted to being tired and couldn't eat his gellato because of it. sounds silly but you have to know him. He's never cold, hot, tired, only hungry. He's always hungry :)
All in all today was a good day. I'm happy as I sign off and go to sleep.

Guess who's back....
I haven't had much to say lately. Got through the holidays without killing a kid, which is amazing! It was the longest two weeks ever! We made it through and everyone was happy. Went to a bed and breakfast in the hill country for a few days and did nothing. literally. nothing. It was good to decompress for a few days and when we came home I felt good. Now we are back to regular schedule and I guess that means I have to get back to being a housewife. Man I hate that. I am a horrible housewife. I really don't know why. my mom cooked and cleaned and she never complained about it. So I feel that I grew up with a good example. I think I am just lazy. shocker! Whatever. I'm doing the best I can and I just keep telling hubby that I never pretended to be Molly Maid. He knew all this about me when he married me so live with it. Now, just to make sure you understand, we do not live in a pig sty. Everything is supposed to be put back in it's place. clutter is bad. I just don't dust and clean the bathroom as much as I should. enough said. (PS I have really healthy kids so don't believe the hype that you must have a sterilized house!)
Anyho. my middle son turned 8 today. I remember the day he was born, just like all three of them. It was really kinda funny, now that is, not then. We took my 8 month preggo pic that morning and it's funny how huge I was! Not long after T went to work I started feeling, literally, a foot between my legs. didn't feel that with baby 1 so that was weird. Called the dr and went in. Guess who was dialing 5 weeks early? That's right, me! Not only that but it's not the feet that should be coming out first. And yes, I was driving myself and my 3 year old son to the dr. and then to the hospital. While hubby tried to get to the hospital and take our son home after finally finding someone to watch him. We lived in California and had no family and really no friends to speak of. They took me into the OR and had me all full of drugs. 7 minutes after T walked in all gowned up I had a son. The emergency C section took 7 minutes. Because he was so early and breech they were concerned that his head might get stuck and that is a bad thing. That is really the last thing you want stuck up there! Anyway, out came this beautiful blond blue eyed boy (who looks nothing like his father!) and now he is eight. He is such a great kid. so full of emotion and love and sweetness and joy and sometimes not so much happiness but that's ok. He is who he is and he has always been himself. doing things his way from the moment he was born. I love my kids. I love being their mom. They drive me to the edge of a cliff sometimes but I don't know what I would do without them. I'm not super mom or even the best mom but my kids now that they can count on me, trust me, and that I love them more than anything in this world. And that is what I am good at.

Gratitude Journal
I was looking through the apps for my new ipod touch and ran across one for a gratitude journal. Now I am horrible at keeping up with anything but I thought this might be a good thing. I can keep myself happy by doing this: Write down 5 things that made you happy today. So here goes....
1. my daughter fishy kissed me.
2. hubby brought home pizza for dinner thus making the kids happy
3. got a message from an old (boy)friend (who is still HOT!) I love talking to old friends.
4. bought my last christmas gift
5. got my christmas cards signed and addressed
that was not as hard as I thought it would be. It doesn't have to be something major, just the little things can make you happy. It's the little things that we tend to overlook and focus on all the "big" things that go wrong. My mom and sister are like that. all of the things that go wrong in their day stays with them and festers. I don't like to let things fester, but I tend to let things roll off my back, does that make me a pushover? I don't think so, like the book of the same title: don't sweat the small stuff.
I think I'm being scatterbrained but since it's my blog....deal with it! :)
